The Old Curiosity Shop

... is just one of the many books, as well as assorted curiosities to be had in this wonderful bookshop in Buxton - 5 floors full of delights on higgledy piggledy shelves.
I took myself to Buxton today as a birthday treat; not really a bus pass adventure, as only one bus, the no. 65,  was involved, other modes of transport being car to the P&R then tram to the city. It is a very pleasant journey through some of the pretty villages and lovely landscapes of the White Peak. It was dry all day - a rare thing in Buxton. Although it has been named as one of the most attractive towns in England, the climate can be a little off-putting 
In June 1975, the town was hit by a freak snowstorm that stopped play during a cricket match.
I expect even people far afield will have heard of Buxton and drunk its waters, but if you take a receptacle, you can help yourself from St Ann's Well.
When my mother was still alive, we regularly used to meet in Buxton as it was halfway between Bolton and Sheffield, but I this was the first time I've been for quite a few years now. A very nice day out.
