Tuk tuks at the bus station
We leave the guest house and head to the bus station hoping to get on a bus around 9am ... the first one is at 10.30am so we have a bit of a wait.
The bus journey is ok though. Its a big bus and isn't too crowded although the air con doesn't work very well and then breaks down completely so its unbearably hot by the time we arrive about 3 hours later. Once we arrive we check into a guest house then head off for some lunch. We find a local cafe and get chatting to a couple of old Australian guys, one of whom has been living here for over 30 years. They are making their way through a fair few BeerLaos and we spend a couple of hours with them avoiding the heat.
Its really hot so we don't venture out again until after dark when we explore a little. Its a small grid system town which has some pretty French colonial architecture. We're going to stay another night so will explore a bit more tomorrow.
