Lots of Clouds...
…but no rain. In fact, it's another beautiful day, but I have stayed out of trouble by staying home and cooking. I've made preserved lemons, Moroccan Chicken in the slow cooker and chocolate pudding cake. We're having the neighbors for dinner before they take off for her brother's wedding in South Africa.
There was talk of a few showers today, but they haven't materialized. There's not too much danger that I will become one of those old people who watch the Weather Channel on TV all the time. It's practically the same every day as we are now in the fourth year of drought here in California. The salmon are not able to swim upstream to spawn because there are no streams. The state keeps lowering water allotments for farmers in the Central Valley, once the salad bowl of the nation. They have already stopped growing water intensive crops like rice, and the almond orchards are filled with rows of skeletal dead trees.
There is, however, a silver lining to these clouds. We are not buried under ten feet of snow like so many people south and east of the Rockies, and the temperatures are in the 60's . I wish I could send some of our warm weather eastward….
