Inside, Outside, Upside Down...
In order to get that peanut out from inside this difficult feeder, sometimes you just have to fly upside down. :))
At 8:00 this morning, as the sun was coming over the trees, our thermometer read -20(F) degrees (-29 C). The colder the day or night, the more I'm compelled to put high-energy foods out for the birds etc. So today was a good day to fill the peanut ring to the top (and every other feeder we have). Lucky for me it was a sunny day and the birds that came to fill up on the nuts, not only put on a good show, but gave me plenty of photo ops as well. This one was having a heck of a time balancing and slid from a standing position in the center, to what you see here. What was impressive though, was the way he righted himself after getting the nut... He left the feeder flying upside down and flipped midair!
