Arnavutkoy, Mothers, AHS
This is my uphill walk in Arnavutkoy to get to my CIP. The kids were just even better than how they were yesterday. Today, it was only me with 5 of them so it wasn't chaotic. The kids usually leave at around 5 and so do the other tutors (because they need to get back into the school to use the late buses), but since I live nearby I though I would stay a bit longer today. Kerim, a 5th grader, said he still had homework to do so that's what we started doing while everyone else left. One of the mothers who had come yesterday sat around today too. It didn't take long for me to realize she was Kerim's mom. When Kerim was reading a paragraph about girl's education (Haydi Kizlar Okula), she commented here and there, which then turned into a full-out conversation. She explained how she was a middle school graduate and never got to go to highschool. Just as I had guessed yesterday, she really does care about her children's education. It's amazing and inspiring how she takes the time to bring her kids (all 4 of them) here to the CIP nearly every day and is always trying to make sure they are well-educated, that they've done their homework, that they're doing well at school. Most families in the area don't even care. Kerim told me that he wants to be an engineer. I really hope he gets the chance to pursue his dream. His mom thanked me multiple times before leaving. None of us wanted t leave, but just 15 minutes after 5, the operator of the
building we were studying in told us that she had to leave and therefor so did we. All these children lift my mood so much. I'm usually a "strict" older sister and I'm not used to liking children this much, so it's a shock how I still haven't gotten mad at them.
Here's a motherhood quote from one of my favorite actresses, Jessica Lange, who just seems to get more beautiful with age:
"The natural state of motherhood is unselfishness. When you become a mother, you are no longer the center of your own universe. You relinquish that position to your children."
I recently read that Jessica Lange announced she will leave American Horror Story once season 4 is over. :( AHS is my favorite show and she's the best actress in it. I hope it's all just a rumor.
Update: Idilsu is back. Can, Can, Can, Yagmuray and I acted out Romeo & Juliet's act 1 scene 1 in front of our class. It was fun. I hope we get to do more of these type of activities.
