To Finish the Job

It was possible to salvage much of the timber from the demolished  fence.
The weakness with wooden fences is that the upright posts rot and there is little that can be done about it.

However these new uprights have been stood in creosote for some six months. They are not set in concrete in the ground.  They are instead simply surrounded by pea gravel in a small but deep  hole.  The gravel holds them surprisingly tight and allows water to drain away. 

I learned this trick from a Yorkshireman.....
