The Point - End Of An Era

Today The Point, Britain's first multiplex, closes. It has been allowed to get tired and sad looking. It would now require a bucket load of money to restore it to its former glory. It opened in 1985 and we used to travel to Milton Keynes to enjoy the hits of the day. I had to explain to my daughter this morning that not cinemas didn't all have 16 screens in my day, although in Luton we did have 3 at our local cinema. This is the place I saw Top Gun again and again and again. In fact I have no idea how many times I saw that film at The Point. The site will be cleared in due course and become another shop. As we know Milton Keynes is desperate for another shop.
