Changi

My father was stationed in Singapore when the island was captured by the Japanese in World War Two. He ended up as a Prisoner of War working on the 'Death Railway', otherwise known as the Burma Railroad, through Thailand.

I don't know whether he passed through Changi Prison - used as an internment and transit camp - during that time but, nevertheless, it was important to me to travel out to Changi and visit the Museum and Chapel dedicated to all those who passed through or who were imprisoned there between 1942 and 1945.

The current chapel, pictured, is a replica and no pictures were allowed inside the museum, but it was a moving and emotional way to spend a Sunday nonetheless.
