Plover
Never blipped one before. I am more used to hearing them as they have a very distinctive call. Noisy with it. They hang around pastures and ploughed paddocks as well as the estuary. Today there was a pair in the lagoon down near the sandspit. Quite happily carried on fishing as the tide brought in fresh sprats. Another full on frontal. Their yellow mask stands out at this angle.
I was actually looking for godwits. They are due to fly back to Alaska soon so need to get cracking if I want to get a flock of them.
It was a tough choice with a young shag sitting on a road sign but the plover won out.
