Taffeta

The weather is damp and misty today, so apart from ducks in a nearby field I've been photographing tulips. I bought them last week and I've been waiting for them to open up a bit or at least wilt, but they are not playing at all.

Yesterday I pulled some of the  leaves away from the flowers which hasn't helped either. So, I've gently opened one up as I get the feeling they are just going to dry up.

I love the dark red colour of these flowers and the textures remind me of taffeta and of Marilyn Monroe singing Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend from the film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
