ANZAC War Memorial

This impressive building is in Hyde Park in Sydney. Fundraising was started a year after the disasterous landing at Gallipoli in 1915 but it wasn't completed until 1934.

This year is the centenary of the Gallipoli landing and bicentennial of the settlement of Bathurst. Lots of happenings in the next few months.

This morning I walked from Point Piper, where I stayed last night, to the city. I was walking faster than the traffic. The weather was overcast but just the right temperature for a walk. I crossed the park and had breakfast in a cafe overlooking this memorial on one side and the city on the other.

I am now home again after a bus journey of 3 hours and 35 minutes.
