Firework Sales

This stand was set up about a week before Chinese New Year and is still here a few days after.  We wanted to buy some, but when the vendor saw that we were foreigners, the price almost doubled, so we decided against it. 

While fireworks can be heard going off all through last week and this week, the most popular day to set them off after New Year's Eve is the money god day.  (I'm sure it has a more official name, but that's how everyone describes it.)  On that night, fireworks will be heard from the time it gets dark until well into the early morning hours.  Most people set them off with the belief that the sound will gain recognition from the money god, and they will be more prosperous in the coming year.
