Civil war, Vicksburg

The Siege of Vicksburg (May 18 – July 4, 1863) was the final major military action in the Vicksburg Campaign of the American Civil War.

Interesting that the southern, Confederate plaques are all very well kept, while the northern, Union plaques are lichen covered. The war and its outcome is still very recent in the minds of the people who live in the areas where the battles were fought.
