Roro
First day of The Long Weekend and a trip west to Dunoon for a few days. Taken on board the roll-up, roll-on, roll-off ferry from Gourock. Swiftly followed by fish and chips eaten outside whilst wearing shorts and sandals. If that doesn't spell h-o-l-i-d-a-y then I don't know what does.
One of the ten greatest songs ever written (a list in my mind that changes on an almost daily basis) features a fantastic line delivered in inimtable style about ferries. It also features one of the world's greatest ever drum rolls around the 1:48 mark.
"Look at a car park for two days. Look at a grey port for two days. Train line, stone and grey. RO-RO Roll on Roll off"
