Bridge over the River Clydach

Just a short diversion as I drove home from working in the South Wales valleys. The Clydach Gorge, through which the eponymous water runs, was home to an old C18th iron works which likely produced the cast iron bridge in this picture, which has the date 1824 on it.

Currently the gorge is hosting forestry works and a large number of trees are being felled, which detracts somewhat from an otherwise charming site. Nevertheless, a site to return to in the summer, perhaps on a ride out with Morrigan (my trusty steed).
