Bicycle memorial
On my way to work today, I was surprised by the construction of the new high way and how fast things change. Last week I blipped this view from my car. Today I passed the same spot and this was the new reality.
I was sure I was going to blip that picture, so you could see and compare what they've done in just 6 days.
But then I passed this place. I was never able to get a good shot of this bike that has been standing there for a long time. I assume it's a memorial for someone who rode his or her bike and got hit in traffic. Streets in Houston are dangerous for bike riders, because there are no bike lanes in the suburbs. Another thing is that people don't know how to ride their bikes when they do. I've seen people ride their bikes on the shoulder of the lanes that go in the opposite direction, instead of going with the flow. Of course I don't know what happened here, but every life lost in traffic is one too many. Still, I kind of like this memorial. Makes me think that I have to park my car next time and go read what's on the sign.
You can find the color version here, but I liked the black and white one better.
