Monomonday 56 Ancient Buildings
115 years old, not very ancient really but the oldest part of the hospital where I work. No longer used for clinical purposes Baguley
House houses various departments and administrative offices. This view shows only part of the complex, going through the archway in the middle leads to other blocks that were part of the original Sanatorium.
Spent today in one of the newer buildings (about 14 years old) the education and research building. Day one of EPLS completed, day two tomorrow all quite calm and structured today but tomorrow the serious stuff starts.
Baguley Sanatorium was opened c.1915 by
Manchester County Borough Council for Tuberculosis cases. It had started out some fifteen years earlier as an isolation hospital under the direction of Withington Urban District Council. In 1948 it came under the South Manchester Hospital Management Committee and then the Wythenshawe and North Cheshire Hospital Management Committee from 1969 until 1974. It now forms part of the Wythenshawe Hospital complex, run by the South Manchester Health Authority
