The Mermaid, Rye

We spent a few hours in Rye today. A lovely old town with cobbled streets leading up to the church on top of the hill.

The Mermaid is Rye's most celebrated hotel. Had we arrived earlier we might have seen if they could fit us in for lunch (£22 for two courses). As it was we made do with £3 sausage baguettes from Poppy's bakery. With a mug of tea each they fuelled us for an afternoon of sightseeing on a clear but bitterly cold day.
