What is it about BBQ's that attracts dogs?

I just can't figure it out. As soon as I get the stuff out to do a BBQ Jonty and Foxy are around my feet.
Even when I'm cooking the meat, which today was a very simple affair of Sausages (Walls of course as we are in Gloucester), Spare Rib Pork Chops and lots of Belly Pork, they hang around me.
When we are eating they are underneath the table. Mind you, with two children aged 5 and nearly 8 there's bound be something dropped.
Or maybe it's because I very naughtily give them little titbits of meat under the table. Yes, maybe that is what attracts dogs to a BBQ.
