inspired again by dry stone walls
We were in Ambleside today and I picked up a leaflet about dry stone walls. We went to look at a vertical slate wall not far away. It was very impressive. Each flag stood about two foot above the ground with at least a foot buried in the ground. The edges had been trimmed so that it interlocked with the next one. I have seen similar walls before, but have always been travelling at speed in a car or a train. It was lovely to examine one closely and I took some good photos.
We were just on our way back to catch the bus when I spotted this dry stone wall with an ash tree (?) close by. I couldn't resist the contrasting texture of the stone wall and the tree trunk. It just had to be my blip of the day.
