Maria again

I spent time talking to Maria through Sona who translated ... she told me about the time the tsunami came here and how they were warned and had an hour to run. They went and took safety in the convent which was not washed away. She also told me about the time when there were no stone or brick buildings on this island just what they call 'sheet' buildings which is plastic not sure it was plastic back then though and palm tree roofs.. They live in a shack now but in front is house now used for tourists .. (we used to stay there) but they are shocked by the clothes or lack of clothes worn by the people who holiday here.... It is very very alien to their culture to expose anything of the legs and certainly never anything like swimming costume ... I am afraid there are going to be many more tourists here .. Either tourism will get this area or the seas will ...
