MonoMonday:Ancient Buildings
I thought this topic for MonoMonday, hosted this month by JoanneInOz, was a great one so it is very frustrating I haven't been able to do justice to it.
I was up at 5:45am and have just arrived home, at midnight, from a big day of business and family in Sydney.
So this is the only building I photographed.
We were having coffee in this cafe in Stanmore when Mr isbi noticed a sign telling it's history:
The bakery was built in 1910. During WW1 it was purchased by the NSW Government and used for the training and testing of the 3rd Australian Field Bakery in 1916. I didn't know such a thing existed!
With the defeat of the Labor Government in 1922, the future of a State Bakery was in doubt so it was sold back into private hands and became the Automatic Bread Baking Company which was granted several patents relating to the mechanisation of Bread Baking and Wrapping!!
I apologise again for my lack of comments recently. Hope to be back in action soon.
