Mono Monday - ancient buildings

In most English villages the oldest building is the church, and South Cave is no exception. According to the village notice board, “a church was mentioned in 1086. The present church of All Saints has features dating from the 12th and 13th centuries. The tower is 15th century. The new chancel was built by the Barnards in 1847. The oldest surviving feature is a Saxon font which may indicate the presence of a church on the site since before Norman times”.
