The Hardgate
The Hardgate is the ancient right of way into the City from the South and runs from the bottom of Holburn Street to the City Centre.
In days gone by folk from the south would have forded the River Dee near the current bridge and entered the city via the Hardgate. Edward the 1st of England and his conquering army entered the city by this route in 1296 .
Nowadays its an area full of flats within walking distance of the city centre and streets with a fruit flavour - Strawberry Bank, Cherrybank etc
