Whatever did I do without them?

We took L to his football game.. 
On the way, while driving through Rome, N allowed him to change the gears, so I have a lovely image memory in my head  of a little hand on the gear stick. He  enjoyed himself and in return we enjoyed watching him play. It is amazing how clever 10 year old footballers can be. He received many a  hard whack on his ankles and fell head first several times without complaining.
