Showing his true colours

Another Kea - this one preening himself and showing off his amazing and beautiful feathers and an array of colours this morning.  Once again we had hoped for a sunrise, but it was misty and rather cool.  The kea's were happy to see us, but the light for photography was very challenging.

Back for breakfast then off walking on the same track as yesterday, but today we went off road off track and headed upward & upwards some more, following what was a tiny stream bed (in the wet times)  until we found the Margaret Tarn.  What an awesome area, obviously we had it all to ourselves and there was incredible views of the mountain ranges surrounding us, the tarn because it continues to be dry was covered in a red weed which in itself looked superb.  So many Natural History treasures to photograph through the macro lens - more Gentians, Alpine Orchids (almost finished), heaps more of the Sundews but a different and more showy variety from yesterdays blip.  Also the very scarce Ladderwort, the size of half my little finger nail.

As you can see there was much photography today and I have heaps of sorting/deleting/editing over the coming days.  When I have finished I will put an Arthur's Pass Album up on Flickr.

Thank you all for the lovely comments, many stars and hearts for my to last blips, really thrilled to see them both sitting well up in the Popular Page.

I will endeavour to catch up with viewing and commenting over the coming days.  Tonight I am extremely tired - not a lot of sleeping over the last two nights, add that to the "mountaineering" we have been doing has made for a very weary Rainie!
