Photo-a-day retirement

Four years on

Even the weather seemed right for the day, grey, mild and with a gentle rain for part of the day.

Hard to believe that four years have passed, four years of endless battles, stress and worry, four years of trying to stay positive and enjoy life against sometimes seemingly overwhelming odds, for so  many people. And four years of the poor people who lost loved ones trying to move on with their lives.

When we went to our house today it seemed that for us the journey still has a very long way to run, when I looked at my wrecked garden, and how much there still is to do with the house, with no sense of urgency from the building company. But at least there is work being done and in that way we are very lucky.

When I was in New Orleans I felt an empathy with the people of the Lower 9th ward that I would never have felt before Christchurch had its own catastrophe, and it was hard realizing that 10 years on they are still fighting the same battles as are being fought here. I hope it's not the same here, but I suspect it will be.

So a soft image today.

And a collage of images of some highlights of San Antonio here.
