Common Grackle
Quiscalus quiscula
It's a damp and dreary morning but this persistant blackbird brought a spot of irridescent color to my garden. He was a smart one too, and I enjoyed watching as he flew back and forth multiple times to hit the sunflower bowl. On his last trip in, he did his best to fit three peanut pieces into his long beak before he flew away. I thought he might be providing for a small family but maybe he's just a hoarder!
And... it's not often that I get a tack sharp eyeball shot so I'm chuffed about this one to say the least!
Another view of his marvelous feathers is on flickr here.
