Cold Turkey

Hi folks. I'm Joe and this is a Cat 5 cable. Unlike me, it's about 5mm in diameter and contains 8 strands of thin copper wire. Why is this important? Because it's what connects you with Blipfoto and Blipfoto with the rest of the world. It's what connects us all with each other.

Pretty cool little cable, huh? Well, it is when it works.

We're still trying to establish exactly what happened to our servers and their unninterruptable super-secure load-balanced, multiple-upstream hourly-backup datacentre on Friday night. But, suffice to say, being without Blipfoto for three days has given us all a little reminder of how much our little corner of the internet means to us, and what a surprising impact it has on our lives when it's taken away.

It's provoked a lot of discussion here at Blipcentral about where we go from here and how we safeguard everything we put into the site. Personally, I've plugged four years of memories into Blipfoto - losing that really doesn't bear thinking about, particularly for the sake of a cheap cable or two.

Anyway, we're back up and running and we want to know what you did with your lost weekend - we've already made a note in our diaries to count the number of Blipbabies born nine months from now... Comments below, please!
