Sunrise over All Soul's College, Oxford on May Day

Every year on May Day, there is a festival in Oxford called May Morning. At 6am people gather on Magdalen Bridge to hear the Magdalen College Choir sing a hymn, the Hymnus Eucharisticus, from the top of Magdalen Tower, a tradition of over 500 years. This is then followed by general revelry and festivities including Morris dancing, impromptu music, etc., for several hours. It is a party atmosphere, despite the early hour. Many people stay up all night before May Morning.
