The lower part of the immersion rod water heater may seem very complex and convoluted when looked at from one angle (what we see on the right). But see the magic of light - the shadow that the rod has casted on the wall (on the left) is circular - as simple as it gets. It all depends on our perspective - the same thing can look complex and simple at the same time!
