8 degrees Celsius in the desert

I live in a desert.

The city I live in only gets 16.5 inches of rain annually.

To the east of me is a beautiful mountain range with plenty of snow during the winter and provides the needed water during the hot summers.

To the west of me is a flat, inhospitable desert.

In this desert however, is the largest salt water lake in the western hemisphere.

So what do you do in the desert when it is only 8 degrees Celsius outside?  

I guess you go sailing.
