Introducing Herman...

No, not the third pet, but maybe actually he counts as a fourth.

Herman is a German friendship cake sourdough mixture. Basically you're given some mixture, which you stir and 'feed' for a few days with milk, flour and sugar, then you split it into 4 equal parts. You give 3 away to friends, and add some extra stuff like apples, cinnamon or whatever to your remaining mixture and cook!

However, since Hermans' have been doing the rounds everywhere in these parts, I reckon I could no longer give any away. So I've started a Herman 'active breeding programme'. Cruelly, I keep him alive but feed him less and just split him down the middle, adding ingredients and cooking and eating one half. The other half I feed until we've run out of cake and the process starts again.

I expect I'll get fed up of this pet soon, at which stage of course we'll cook and eat him all!
