From Cromer Cliffs
This image may be worth viewing large.
I awoke to a cloudless day and the birds singing in the garden. It felt almost spring like. There was time to drink tea, practice and record a couple of folk songs and plant some broad beans which I am starting off in the greenhouse.
Later on, Jess and I went down to Cromer to pick up a friend who was visiting for the afternoon. Though I have lived here for almost twenty years, it was only today that I found out that Cromer's name derives from the ancient "Crow Mere" and that prior to the fourteenth century, there was a settlement there on the coast by the name of Shipdene. These days however Shipdene lies a few hundred yards off shore and beneath the waves; it has gone the way of Dunwich.
