Eliza's Manor House
It's been a great summer day today, a warm 26 degrees and blue, blue sky. Too good for working really! Good to get out with D for a run around the Hagley Park under the cool of the trees.
Lovely old house pictured here. At the right time of year the frontage is draped in flowering wisteria - beautiful. Built in 1861 it has had a great history, now a boutique hotel and events centre. More of the history can be found here.
Pleased to see it survived all the earthquakes - testament to the ability of timber framed structures to absorb energy in a non-brittle way (unlike so many concrete buildings that despite being designed for "ductility" were too expensive to repair).
