Idyllic battlefield

As I was walking around a nearby lake with the girls I came across this serious squabble between two geese. It made me think of West Side Story and the antagonism between the Jets and the Sharks and I honestly thought they would fight to the death or serious injury but , happily, the brown goose eventually left the scene looking very dejected. The noise was intense as you can see their chums were egging them on. This lake is a delightful place to walk and is also a wild life haven in the middle of the surrounding desert. As it is a rare water source , flocks of all kinds of water fowl gather here amicably.... But not today. Maybe spring is in the air.
