Luminous Lace
We went to Kensington Place, today. A curious place - half is under high security (Royals live there!) and half is open to the public. The curators have tried to pep up the displays hence this rather wonderful installation in the lobby. Some of it is awe-inspiring for example the room in which Victoria met her privy council 'for swearing in' on the day after her uncle died - 82 gentlemen and an 18 year-old young queen. Then other parts are rather sad, the room commemorating Albert's death, the story of Queen Anne's 18 ill-fated pregnancies and then the room dedicated to Princess Diana. We left the palace to enjoy a lovely late afternoon in the park, and then a bus ride to meet a son for dinner.
