we captured the castle

A great day out with the kids where there was a bit of fresh air, a bit of a walk, a bit of history, a bit of culture and a bit of kite flying. The castle was indeed captured by these two - epic battles took place before we settled out of the wind and down to our picnic lunch. I love having a castle (ruin) in our town!

Then it was a gathering up of the four teenagers who didn't come castle exploring from their various interests and feeding them pancakes - lots of pancakes.

Tomorrow is an early start as we begin visiting the first of the University Open Days (Durham) that we are doing this year - big gulp, my soon to be 17 year old is making plans to leave home!
