A telephone
The first practical telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell, an eminent Scottish-born scientist. He was the first to be granted a United States patent for a device that produced clearly intelligible replication of the human voice in 1876. This was an amazing device that allowed you to have a conversation, yes a conversation!!! with someone in a distant location. Nowadays, having a conversation over the phone is becoming rarer and rarer, text messaging, e-mailing, whatsapping and whatnot... are becoming a bit more of a convenient way to communicate with each other... in silence... Even when you call a number for information, it's really hard to talk to a human being. After thousands of options that finally tell you to check their website, if you're lucky, you may manage to finally hear someone's voice!
I always wonder if anybody ever uses these phone boxes to actually make a phonecall... I'm sure that, in the near future, younger generations will look at these devices in wonder in the same way as they look now at record or cassette players...
I survived my second day at work after my holidays. Nothing exciting happening today really apart from one of our regular shoplifters being caught redhanded.
Having to get up early tomorrow for an early shift.
Thanks very much for all your nice comments and stars yesterday! I hope you all had a good day! :)
