Looking Down through the New Clearing

Its been a hard day’s work. Ground work. Sawing into that jungle of firs, laurels and brambles. We had to clear up a broad corridor in the downhill front garden. Our blackbirds were looking on. Their impenetrable labyrinth has vanished. Partly, but indeed My Dear Friends, we do feel very sorry for this unfortunate demolition. But otherwise we cannot detect&repair the blocked or broken part of the sewer-canal down there. I knew you would say “shit, whats the use of a water-closet in a foresthill home”?

But, Dear Mr.&Ms Blackbird, how could I explain to you that we humans as guardians of the natural soil are not free to pollute the soil even of our own property. We also had to hurry up in removing trees&bushes before your nestling season starts. We did not like to postpone the digging out of the pipe until Summer. So, Mr&Ms Blackbird, we had to make a clearing there. Both to the right and to the left many thick bushes and dense trees are left for your family-housing to come!

To my own surprise  W. and I went on with this heavy job on the slope. Despite a reluctant start in the morning, I discovered unknown energy and force to work on until late in the afternoon this job was finished. Thanks to this discovery I will have found the rhythm and the renewed prospect for an early rise in the days to come. For the heavy digging, hacking and axing to come. We still have a long deep way to go. As a do-it-yourself kind of treasure digging.

So, dear Mr. Thoreau and Blackbird, there is also something else going on in this shitty sewer-pipe-exercise: you could call it Zen and the art of arrears maintenance work. And finally, looking down through the new “clearing” an unseen downhill perspective made itself visible.
