One Cracked Cake

Made my favourite cake today...Lemon & Yoghurt and it rose nicely, and on the whole looked ok, apart from all the BIG CRACKS on the Top!
Why do my cakes always crack when I try and follow the recipe,  especially temperature and length of cooking.
Anyway it does taste yummy, even if it is a bit challenging to cut.
