What a fool!
Back in the day, I used to work for a subsidiary of British Airways.
A fantastic perk of the job was ridiculously cheap flights everywhere and I took full advantage.
As if that wasn't enough, there was also the potential for an upgrade and one time I even flew back from New York to London in 1st class.
This airline super discount didn't just apply to BA either.
I once found myself at Orlando airport having turned up for a BA flight back to the UK on a day that BA didn't fly - no problem...on production of my 'BA' office pass, Virgin Atlantic not only brought me back, they also gave me an upgraded seat.
And this was at a time when BA and Virgin were mortal enemies - just google BA dirty tricks for more info :-)
Anyway, yes, I was a fool!
They often had offers on Concorde flights where you could fly Transatlantic by Jumbo one direction and Supersonic the other - for buttons in comparison to the regular passengers.
Anyway, I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't take up any of these offers.
This is something I'm reminded of every time we visit the Musum of Flight down at East Fortune.
Parked up in the main hangar, after an enforced retirement back in 2003, is Concorde Golf Bravo Oscar Alpha Alpha.
The boys love it and it's always a school holidays favourite.
