Election Day!!
Meet Dr. Assma Ali. Her voting number was 198 and she was the first lady in her alloted voting station of Karnak, to cast her vote at 8.30 am. The Station was open late and the people were disgruntled as they were keen to vote.
Once inside, she was amazed that no one was there 'Pushing' you to vote for a certain person or offering bribes for that vote. A first experience for her and many others.
She was full of excitement, as she showed us her first 'Inked' finger in a post Mubarak regime election. 'I want to be on the streets to see what is happening' she shared, as she read the comments of fellow voters on Face Book and looked at images of busy Polling Stations in Cairo . Dr. Assma showed us who she had voted for and who the main candidates were, out of the 12 now remaining.

As we drove around Luxor today, we saw a few small queues, but nothing like the scenes I have just seen in Cairo, on the news. The Election will last for 2 days and so I am sure that people will be out later this evening and tomorrow, to make, for the first time in over 30 years, a free choice of who they want to run their Country.
When one lady was asked how long she had been waiting to vote, she replied 30 years......Never again will that happen in an Egyptians Life. Thanks to those that gave their lives fighting for a new Egypt, the people have a voice and will make sure they are heard.
The best of luck to everyone. Insha'Allah, we will be strong again.
