Pictures & Woodwork.

By PeterB

My Next Project.

I ventured into my workshop to start on restoring the above chair which my Brother gave to me when I was with him a couple of weeks ago or so.
It has been in the family for a very long time and as my brother is moving house shortly, he will not have the space for it.

I have now started to sand it down to the bare wood on the legs first then work my way up to the seat and then the back rest and arms. There is a lot of old dried on wax and polish and when sanded it is more like dust than sanded wood dust!
It does need a little repair as one of the 'rails' between the rear and front leg is missing, so I will find a piece of suitable wood, turn it and replace into the chair...... Not yet though, I will get all the sanding done first, repair it, a final sanding, then a suitable colour stain and then add a hard wearing lacquer so the polish will not come off with constant use.

I will keep you updated on its progress. There is always something special about restoring a piece of furniture to its former glory.
When finished I will blip it.

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.
Enjoy and take care.
