Day 1; Lyttelton

Not a good start as it was chilly and rainy. Walked in the foothills around Christchurch; to Bellbird point. Everywhere is very dry, drought has just been declared. Not much sun today and very poor visibility.

Called in at Lyttelton for coffee and cheese scones. Amazingly the sign in the cafe window said 'Our scones are personally recommended by Lady Findhorn'. Really, there's no escape.
