Rusty metal
The local weather station has 19.9C recorded for today and it felt like it as Maeve the Deerhound and I walked to the beach. This is about the maximum temperature that I like to walk Maeve in. I take her for a walk earlier than noon if it gets hotter as I don't like to see her panting and breathing heavily because of the temperature. Fortunately, as it often is on the East coast, it was cooler on the approach to the beach and on the beach itself.
Almost as soon as we got onto the beach we spotted this rusty piece of metal plate lying in the sand. It was the most obviously different object to add something new to the series "interesting little things on the beach". I just took it down to the damp sand and put it there to get a blip with a bit more definition than I would have on the dry powdery light sand in the strong overhead sun. Photos taken I had a seat on a driftwood tree trunk for a while. Maeve stood around, sniffed some seaweed and other things she probably shouldn't, and did a bit of people watching. Often the beach is empty when we are there, but today there were even two people sitting on chairs they had brought. Summer indeed !
I have an update on the car crash I saw yesterday ...
From The Courier (newspaper) online: Car flips in crash outside Carnoustie
Two men were trapped in a car that overturned after colliding with a van in Carnoustie on Tuesday. The accident happened at around 1.15pm on the Carnoustie to Easthaven road.
The two passengers in a silver Renault Megane were lucky to escape with only minor injuries after the crash with a white Network Rail van, which led their car to flip over and settle on its roof.
Two appliances from Tayside Fire and Rescue were called to help free the men. The driver and passenger of the car were taken to Ninewells Hospital by ambulance after the accident. It is understood their injuries are minor. The driver of the van was uninjured.
