The thistle and the rose

I'm a fan of experimenting with the polar coordinates filter in Photoshop. I was lucky enough to receive a lovely bouquet of cream roses, green chrysanthemums and blue thistles and did a little bit of manipulation with some close-up shots. I like this abstract, not least because of the juxtaposition of the exaggerated jaggieness of the thistles against the soft flowing rose petals opposite.

Munroist4113 commented on the connection to "The Thistle and the Rose" and I thought how appropriate on St Valentine's Day as this is the historical novel by Jean Plaidy about Margaret Tudor. She was packed off to Scotland to marry the rather fierce Scottish King James 1V and to her surprise fell madly in love with him - for a little while anyway!
