Valentine's Day - I love a Trollope
Let me hasten to say that this is in no way a description of Mrs. K. Who has just received her 55th. Valentine's card from your truly. Nor could it apply to any of the delightful ladies of a certain age in the village who tolerate the eccentricities of a 79 year old with such charm and generosity.
But it does mean that I enjoy the novels of Anthony Trollope as can be seen from part of my bookshelf.
Trollope, 1815 - 82 had an unhappy childhood and early adult life. It was not until he went to work for the Post Office in Ireland that he began his literary career in earnest, he was highly disciplined an normally wrote 3000 words before breakfast..
There are 57 novels and they are all readable. If you have never tried them I would recommend starting with "The Warden" which is the first of the Barchester novels and is shorter than most. You can download them free of course.
Incidentally, Trollope is also credited with introducing the pillar box for post.
