Cushion cloud

After a rather crazy day yesterday, today was calmer. I was on an early flight from Heathrow to Newcastle, for an event in Gateshead. It was the location for the UK launch of the new Smart Fortwo and Forfour cars, and as I arrived at the venue, this extraordinary cushion cloud loomed above the dramatic buildings beside the Tyne.

Another surprise awaited on the drive over the North York Moors. There was a heavy residue of recent snow, and in places the ploughed snow piled up at the roadside was taller than the little Smart car I was driving.

I should have been at a charity event in London this evening, the annual fund-raising party of Womac - Women On the Move Against Cancer. This charity was started 36 years ago by a dynamic friend, Jean Denton, who motivated a group of her female chums, all of us involved in the motor industry in some way, to raise money to help fight the effects of cancer. Sadly a plane delay and heavy traffic meant that I missed the party this time. Hopefully it will have generated a lot of funds though.
