Drooping Tree
Went to a memorial tea this afternoon to remember the life of one of Brighton's characters, a woman who has recently died aged 97. She was a remarkable woman. After a life in the senior civil service she retired to Brighton where she lived for another 37 years. Up until a week before her death she would walk her small dog for miles, stopping at the various coffee bars for refreshments. She decided to start travelling again at the age of 80 and visited some 37 countries up including Russia, North Africa and America. She wrote a dissertation at aged 85 and started a local book club when she was 90. She continued driving safely and well until a week before her death. She was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 87 but refused treatment and lived for another 10 years ensuring that every minute was filled.
I think she was an inspiration when there is so much negativity around about the ageing process with constant references to anyone over 65 being a burden.
I have therefore chosen this tree as an image to accompany today's blip. Although bent it is still vibrant and interesting. I have, of course used a plug-in to enhance it but I think it works.
